What could cause sore throat, fever, and clear or white pockets on the tonsils?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I would like to inform you that I was drinking and smoking last night and now when I woke up I have a sore throat and it is getting worse progressively. The tonsils are lumpy with clear or white pockets on them. It hurts when I swallow and I also have a slight fever. I have had these symptoms since this morning. I have not taken any medication for the symptoms.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and can understand your concern.I would like to suggest the following medications:

Consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and take the medications after their consent.

  1. Tablet Ibuprofen (Advil) 400 mg twice a day for five days after food.

  2. Tablet Deslor (Desloratadine) once a day before bed for five days after food.

  3. Tablet Rabeprazole (Aciphex) 20 mg twice a day for five days after food,

  4. Tablet vitamin C (Acerola) 500 mg twice a day for 10 days after food.

Do not take any of the above medicines if you are allergic to them. Also, drink lots of water and keep yourself hydrated. This usually takes two to three days to get better. If symptoms do not reduce, then antibiotics will be required.

Thank you for consulting me.

You can always come back and reach me at icliniq.com.

Regards.
