Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have had stomach aches at the top left side under the rib cage and diarrhea twice in the last hour after eating. I have medical anxiety, and I am scared I had TSS from period ten days ago. I have been on Cilicaine VK 500 for eight days. Diarrhea started today, and there is pain in the upper left stomach. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern regarding loose stools.

As you said, you have been on Penicillin for the last eight days for TSS (toxic shock syndrome). I hope you are not taking any other medication. Penicillin may sometimes lead to pseudomembrane colitis, leading to diarrhea. I would suggest you get a stool test for Clostridium difficile toxin to rule that out. You may require antibiotics to tackle this. Avoid milk products, painkillers, and a nonvegetarian diet. You may take Pantocid (Pantoprazole) and antispasmodic for pain after consultation with your treating doctor. I also suggest Racecadotril 100 mg eight hourly to reduce loose stool frequency.

Hope this helps.

Kindly revert back in case of any more queries.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

I was on antibiotics for tonsillitis. My medical anxiety was scared of TSS, and I hope it is not that.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your query and concern.

Do you have any history of use of tampon? TSS is associated with fever, fatigue, and weakness. Your presentation does not seem like TSS. It seems more like to be drug-induced diarrhea. Please continue oral water intake at least 2 liters per day or fluid with electrolytes. Continue the medication I suggested in the previous message, and you will be alright.

Revert in case of more queries.

Kind regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
