What causes severe stomach cramps and diarrhea after meals?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 30-year-old female, and I stand at 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 126 pounds. I am experiencing stomach pain accompanied by diarrhea every time I eat anything. I have really, really bad stomach aches and diarrhea, like sometimes it will be between 20 to 25 minutes after I eat, or sometimes longer.

Please guide.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I am very sorry to hear about your medical condition, and I appreciate that you are paying attention to changes in your body. Rest assured, I am here to assist you.

Based on your symptoms, it seems you may have developed irritable bowel disease, food poisoning from toxins in food, a reaction to lactose, or possibly issues related to gluten in your diet. Can you please let me know if you are experiencing any fever or vomiting?

I recommend that you do a stool analysis and get back to me. I see that you have already taken some medications and ORS (oral rehydration solution), which may not have shown any signs of improvement.

I suggest taking two tablets of Zinc 20 mg, to be taken twice a day orally for one week, and two tablets of Thalazole (Phthalylsulfathiazole) 50 mg, to be taken twice a day orally for five days. Consult your specialist doctor and then take the medicines.

If you have any further concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to schedule a direct appointment.

I hope you find this information helpful.
