Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had spicy food the day before, and the next day I felt stomach irritation, and then I noticed some blood in my stool and piles. I have taken antacids but am not seeing any results. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

You have two distinct issues: gastritis, most likely caused by spicy foods, and piles. You should aim to avoid eating foods that are fatty, greasy, or hot. Instead of resting after eating, go for a walk. Instead of large meals, eat several small ones. Maintain a regular sleep schedule and prevent stress—lots of fruits and green leafy veggies. If possible, avoid smoking and alcohol. For piles, the first thing is your stool should be soft. You should eat a high-fiber diet like fruits, apples, bananas, oranges, and green leafy vegetables like spinach and raw cucumber. Avoid smoking, refined food, and fatty and oily food. You should have plenty of fluids and regular exercise—also, syrup like lactulose, 15 to 30 ml at bedtime to maintain your stool soft. Avoid straining at stools. This should resolve your bleeding. Definitive treatment is surgery. I hope this helps you get back if you have any doubts.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
