Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 27-year-old and have had strabismus since I was a toddler. My parents do not know how I acquired the condition. My mother thinks it happened after a very high fever, or I fell down. Both incidents happened around the same time and I got this eye problem. I had surgery when I was 3 years old and it did not help. I do not have binocular vision, I only use one eye, and the other just helps. The vision in my good eye is perfect but I do not use that eye. I use the one with poor vision. My eyes are straight when I am looking straight or when I turn them to the right but if I look to the right, they become misaligned. Because of this, I do not turn my eyes to the right and sort of turn my neck, which strains my neck. I am considering surgery for alignment. And after that, I want to get Lasik to better my vision in my bad eye As I mentioned, I will probably need Lasik on one eye because the other has good vision. Will surgery help my condition?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The information provided by you is incomplete. I need some more information to guide you. With the available information, I can say that squint can be cosmetically corrected with surgery. The prognosis depends on the type and amount of squint. Kindly share photos of your eye in a straight gaze, left and right gaze so that I may judge the type of squint and it is the best treatment option. Regarding Lasik squint is associated with a lazy eye. In this condition, Lasik does not help much. So I need to know about your glasses prescription and vision with glasses so that I may guide you better regarding Lasik. I hope this will help you.

Thank you.
