Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My little daughter has a supravalvular pulmonary membrane that causes minimal stenosis. So I do not know what to do. The doctor said that the stenosis is very small and will wait and see. So I need to know what should I do and what is the next step. Can this be treated without surgery? Now she is 10 months old.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

This condition is more of pediatric cardiology rather than adult cardiology. However, I think that if the stenosis is minimal then it should only be observed at this stage with regular yearly echos. If the stenosis progresses and become of severe degree, then this can be managed with means of balloon dilatation in the first instance in young age group and only if this fails, then she can have surgery. I wish your daughter good recovery and happy life.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
