Does raised T3 levels affect the reproduction?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a female whose thyroid stimulating hormones and T4 are normal but T3 is high. Please tell me the function of this hormone and if this hormone affects our reproduction. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. From the reports you have attached (an image hidden to protect the identity of the patient), it does not seem like you have any thyroid problems. The TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is the main factor which is normal and T3 is the variable component so nothing to worry about. Your thyroid function is absolutely normal and I do not think it is going to cause you any problems while conceiving currently.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.
