Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I do not have any major skin problems, but I would like to reduce my tan and improve overall skin brightness on both my face and body. I am looking for a cream that is steroid-free and does not contain harsh chemicals, as I have very sensitive and slightly dry skin. Please suggest a suitable option for me.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns so clearly.
I really admire how careful you are about choosing gentle and steroid-free products, especially since your skin is sensitive and slightly dry. Wanting to remove tan and brighten your skin safely is completely understandable, and with the right routine, this can be done without damaging your skin.
Since you do not have any active skin problems, your tanning is most likely due to regular sun exposure and mild dryness. When skin is not well hydrated, it holds on to pigmentation more easily. The good news is that this type of tanning responds very well to proper sun protection, gentle brightening, and consistent moisturising.
For your face, you can use a steroid-free product that contains mild brightening ingredients like Kojic acid, Arbutin, and vitamin C derivatives. Use a pea-sized amount once daily at night on the entire face, avoiding the area around the eyes. If your skin feels dry, follow it with a gentle moisturiser. With regular use, this will help fade tan and give your skin a healthy, brighter look.
Use a mild face wash twice a day to keep your skin clean without making it dry or irritated.
In the morning, sunscreen is extremely important. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 (sun protection factor 30) or higher. Apply it generously on your face and any exposed areas of your body. If you are outdoors for long hours, reapply it to prevent further tanning.
For your body, you can use an Ammonium lactate lotion twice daily. It gently removes dull, dead skin while deeply moisturising, which helps improve overall skin tone and smoothness. Because it can make skin slightly sensitive to sunlight, using sunscreen on exposed areas is important.
Please avoid scrubs, harsh soaps, bleaching creams, or home remedies, as these can worsen dryness and irritation in sensitive skin. Always do a patch test before starting any new product. Remember that gentle brightening usually takes about four to six weeks, so consistency and patience are key.
I hope this helps.
Please revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.
