Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have severe asthma and take my inhalers every day, but I still experience bad flare-ups. My doctor mentioned Tezspire (biological therapy), but I do not fully understand how it works. How is it different from biologics like Dupixent (monoclonal antibody against IL-4(Interleukin-4) receptor alpha) or Xolair (monoclonal antibody against IgE)? Does Tezspire replace inhalers, or do I still need to use them? Also, how often do I have to receive the injection — every week or once a month? Are there any serious side effects I should be concerned about? Most importantly, how much does Tezspire cost with insurance, and is there financial assistance available if insurance does not cover it?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and can understand your concern.
Tezspire (Tezepelumab) is a newer biologic used for eosinophilic asthma.
I suggest the following test:
If these levels are high, then Tezspire (Tezepelumab) will be effective.
You need to continue your regular inhalers along with a once-a-month Tezspire (Tezepelumab) injection.
Currently, Tezspire (Tezepelumab) is not covered under most insurance plans.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
