Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 20-year-old healthy male. Recently, I was hit by a car and broke my tibia and fibula. I had a procedure where they inserted a rod with screws into the leg and one screw has broken. I would like to know some advise on how to proceed.
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query.
Yes, it is the correct treatment. If the surgery is done properly, then you can walk the next day of surgery with crutches. Remove the crutches once the pain reduces, and walk normally, I suggest you do normal activities once the pain reduces. But do running and sports after three months of surgery. Get your X-ray done once after 3 weeks of surgery and also after 6 weeks of surgery, then at 12 weeks. The diet should include milk and milk products. You need to take calcium and vitamin D supplements. Physiotherapy should be done on the ankle and knee joints. Strengthening exercises should also be done.
Hope it helps.
Thanks and regards.
