Fibular Fracture

Fibula or calf bone is the bone that is beside the tibia between the knee joint and the ankle joint. Impact due to high jump, trauma to the outer side of the leg, or sprain in the ankle may cause a fibular fracture. The fracture may cause bleeding, tenderness, inability to bear weight, numbness in feet, etc. X-ray, MRI and physical examination are the diagnostic aids for the fracture. Closed reduction, open reduction, stabilization, internal fixation, etc., are the treatment options, and it is selected based on the type of fracture.
