How to cure tinea corporis permanently?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I weigh 209 pounds, and I have been experiencing tinea corporis in the groin area for about a month. The spots are ring-shaped with dry, flaky borders. I used Castor NF cream, and the symptoms were reduced, but after I stopped using it, the symptoms came back.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Kindly avoid self-medication. Causes of superficial fungal infection in the groin area (tinea corporis) could be due to excess sweating, occlusive tight wear, not drying area after bath, improper hygiene, or uncontrolled sugar levels. I suggest you take a few medications mentioned below:

  1. Apply Luliconazole cream twice daily for six weeks.

  2. Apply Ketoconazole soap for baths for two months. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with their consent.

Additionally, keep the area clean and dry, maintain proper hygiene, and avoid activities that cause sweating. Also, attach a clinical image to assess so can guide you further with oral medications.

I hope this has helped you.

Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.

Thank you.
