This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 49 years old female. I think one month back the ringing sound in my left ear started. I did not realize it initially but now it has become stronger. I do not have any illness currently. I am in my perimenopause period. On the right side, I had TMJ pain which is slightly there but no ringing in the right ear. Pain in the jaw on the right side. The ringing is on the left side. I am taking thyroid medicines. Can you suggest some treatment?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You are suffering from tinnitus on the left side. In perimenopausal age, it can trigger the sound.

  1. Avoid caffeine food, and drinks.
  2. Drink water.
  3. Avoid salty foods.
  4. Control blood pressure and sugar levels.
  5. Get pure tone audiometry test done.

I hope you have normal hearing and no recent cold. This condition also aggravates the tinnitus.

I hope this helps.
