What to do about a broken silver filling with sharp edges?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 35 years old. Recently, my molar that had a silver filling broke. I do not have pain; however, the tooth has sharp edges, and the filling is still intact. What do I need to do now?

Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and would be happy to help. An old silver filling can get damaged, and the edges can break. If there is no pain and the X-ray does not show changes in the normal filling, then your dentist will trim the sharp edges.

I hope this helps. Kindly revert in case of further doubts.

Thank you.
