How is torus palatinus diagnosed?de
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a small bump on the roof of my mouth just behind my teeth. I initially thought it might be a torus palatinus, but I just discovered that it is a permanent growth, and my bump comes and goes occasionally. It usually forms when I eat hot foods, and it does not feel like a blister. It typically lasts about two weeks or less. There is pain while eating, and the last time it happened, when it went away or almost "popped" (but not like a blister would), it did not hurt anymore after it disappeared. I just want to know what it could be; I do not need a full consultation.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
A bump like this could be related to :
-
Related to surrounding teeth problems (tooth decay, improper root canal treatment done previously, bad crowns, or fillings over teeth).
-
Related to gums because of hard food injuries, aggressive brushing, and dietary habits (intake of spicy or acidic food ).
-
Hormonal issues around period time, pregnancy or contraceptive pills intake, stress.
-
If this bump is not correlated with a period or stress, visiting your dentist will be a must to examine your teeth to find out any teeth or gums-related problems.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
