Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My father is 38-year-old male, and I am worried about his health. He has been showing early signs of renal problems along with type 2 diabetes. His creatinine levels are slightly elevated at 1.6 mg/dL. What can we do to better manage his diabetes and prevent further kidney damage? Are there specific medications or lifestyle changes that could help in this situation?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Since diabetes is a leading cause of kidney damage, maintaining blood glucose control can slow the progression of chronic kidney disease(CKD) with the help of medication, diet, and lifestyle changes. High blood pressure can accelerate kidney damage. Diet plays a role in managing CKD and diabetes. I advice to get a dietitian's help.
Please let me know if you need any help.
Take care.
