Is there a long-term treatment for my ulcerative colitis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 29 years old, and I have had ulcerative colitis for 10 years. And stomach-related issues from the last 17 years. I am currently taking Pentasa 1 g and Nexpro L early morning. Even after taking these medicines, I am suffering from gas, bloating, indigestion, and constipation. Please suggest a routine or a new treatment.

Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Regarding your symptoms of indigestion and constipation following co-morbid ulcerative colitis, I suggest you take the following medicines.

  1. Injection Inflixumab 5 mg/kg at zero, two and six weeks, then eight weeks thereafter.
  2. Tablet Simethicone 180 mg twice daily.
  3. Tablet Gestid 20 ml thrice daily.
  4. Capsule Erythromycin 500 mg twice daily.
  5. Syrup liquid paraffin 20 ml twice daily.

Eat fruits and vegetables. If your symptoms persist, please revert.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
