Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My daughter is 18 weeks pregnant with her first baby. She just received a test result from her naturopath, and unfortunately to say she is still positive for the Ureaplasma parvum DNA, even after antibiotics. She has searched about this on the internet and is worried about the baby.

Can you please offer some advice in this regard?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The Ureaplasma parvum during pregnancy leads to delivery before due term if not treated.

I would suggest the following treatment.

  • Tablet Azithral (Azithromycin) - 500 mg once a day for five days.
  • Continue with iron and calcium supplements.
  • Ointment Surfaz-SN (Clotrimazole, Beclomethasone Dipropionate, and Neomycin cream) for local application at bedtime.
  • Capsule vitamin B - complex once a day for ten days.

She should abstain from sexual intercourse also.
