Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had UTI four to five times in the last seven months. I underwent a urinalysis because a UTI was suspected. My test report shows clear specific gravity - 1.023, reference Range: 1.001-1.035, pH - 5.5, reference Range: 5.0-8.0, glucose negative, negative bilirubin, negative ketones, negative occult blood, and negative protein. No bacteria or calcium oxalate crystals were seen. So what does my report suggest?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The urine report (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) is great. UTI (urinary tract infection) and recurrent UTI are different. Recurrent UTI will need further investigations like ultrasound KUB (kidney, ureter, and bladder) and post-void bladder scan. If ultrasound and post-void scans are normal, then you need to take yogurt once daily, cranberry tablets once daily, and be careful while using public toilets. The prophylactic antibiotic will be added if required.

If you have any more queries, please let me know.

    Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

What does occult blood in the urine suggest?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The presence of occult blood in the urine can be suggestive of UTI. If you have any symptoms like urgency, frequency, etc., you can do a urine culture rather than an analysis because it is more accurate.

Kind regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
