Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 34-year-old female. I have an injured urinary bladder and left side ureter during hysterectomy surgery by laparoscopy five years ago. Then I underwent a cystoscopy and nephrostomy a month later on the left side with a catheter in my urine bladder. A contrast dye test was performed in the urinary bladder in the catheter. What surgery can I do now?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your query and reports (attachments are hidden to protect the patient's identity). I need to know whether the dye test was done through the nephrostomy tube only or both through the nephrostomy tube and the urinary bladder catheter. It appears that there is some narrowing in the ureter at the lower end where it was injured. The urinary bladder injury seems to have healed well. You will need surgery again, either stenting or open surgery, to repair the narrowing. The exact procedure will have to be decided based on how narrow the ureter is during surgery.

I hope this helps.

Feel free to revert with any other questions or concerns.

Regards.
