Is there any treatment that can crush the kidney stone and allow it to pass without surgery in a 23-year-old adult?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 23 years old with a weight of 60 kg, and I have severe pain below the ribs and vomiting. Also, I have kidney stones, and I am taking medications for the same. The pain has come after a few months and then goes away. Previously about 13 years ago, when I was diagnosed with kidney stones, I suffered from groin pain and dizziness. My current medication includes Buscopan, Ciprobid, and Cystone. Is there any treatment that can free me from this disease? Can I continue playing soccer, or is it one of the factors worsening my condition? Is there any treatment that can crush the stone and allow it to pass? Can I undergo surgery, or is there a different drug from what was prescribed to me?

Please give your opinion.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

Kidney stones small in size ( less than 5 mm) will pass with urine. If the stone size is more than 8 mm or more or it does not pass in the urine. If it is associated with infection, block, or pyelonephritis or not responding to medical treatment, then the condition needs surgical intervention. The commonly used interventions are stent placement, percutaneous nephrostomy, extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL), ureteroscopy (URS), percutaneous nephrolithotomy, open nephrostomy, and anatrophic nephrolithotomy.

However, I suggest you to drink plenty of water and take painkillers and antibiotics. If the symptoms have not improved, please get an abdominal scan done and get treated accordingly.

I hope this helps.

Take care.
