Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am currently experiencing symptoms of a urinary tract infection and would like to know if it is appropriate for me to take Oflox-OZ. I am also concerned because I seem to develop a UTI nearly every time I have sex, and I would appreciate understanding why this might be happening.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
You should take Ofloxacin with Ornidazole only if a doctor has examined you and confirmed that it is the right treatment, as many urinary infections do not respond well to this combination. Similarly, the wrong antibiotic can cause the infection to come back. Recurrent UTIs following sexual intercourse occur quite often because some bacteria from the genital area enter the urinary tract during intercourse, which is also quite common in young women because of the short length and location of the urethra.
I would like to ask some questions to understand your problem better and to give you appropriate advice:
Do you have a burning sensation at the beginning, throughout, or end of urination?
Do you have pressure in your lower abdomen, fever, or chills?
Do you urinate immediately after having sex, or do you usually wait for a while?
Recently, have you tried new condoms, lubricants, soaps, or any vaginal products that may irritate you? How long have you been sexually active, and are your partner's urinary symptoms normal? Your answers will help me understand why these infections keep recurring and whether you need a urine test and culture before starting any medication.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert if there are any queries.
Thank you.
