Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
About two weeks ago, I started experiencing some mild discomfort in my vaginal area. It was similar to something I had felt before, so I did not think much of it at the time. I continued to have regular intercourse, and over the days, the discomfort gradually increased, although it remained tolerable.
Five days ago, I got my period, and yesterday I began to feel what seemed like a cut or tear on the left side of my vaginal lip. Upon checking, it does appear that there is a small cut, and it has become painful, especially when I urinate. Despite this, I had sex again today, since I was not experiencing pain during intercourse itself.
However, after that, the pain became much more intense. Now, I am having significant difficulty urinating due to a sharp, burning pain both at the site of the cut and around the urethra. The discomfort is severe enough that it is making me cry, and walking is also very painful. The area seems a bit swollen as well. I applied some ice to help with the swelling, but I am unsure of what else I should do at this point. Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Based on your menstrual history and the symptoms you have described, particularly the pain at the vaginal opening following a tear during intercourse, along with severe discomfort while walking and urinating, it appears you may be experiencing cystitis, a common urinary tract infection (UTI) often seen in young, sexually active women.
Cystitis (a type of urinary tract infection (UTI) that specifically affects the bladder) is typically caused by bacteria entering the urinary tract. It is important to maintain good menstrual and sexual hygiene to help prevent such infections.
For now, I recommend the following treatment:
Tablet Meftal-Spas (250+10 mg) – Take twice daily for three days (for pain relief and muscle relaxation).
Tablet Bactrim-DS (160+800 mg) – Take twice daily for seven days (antibiotic to treat the infection).
Tablet Metronidazole 400 mg – Take twice daily for seven days (antibiotic for anaerobic bacteria).
Tablet Levocetirizine 5 mg – Take once daily at bedtime for seven days (to manage any allergic or inflammatory response).
Kindly consult your doctor and take medicines accordingly.
Additionally:
Increase your water intake to help flush out the urinary tract. Frequent urination helps cleanse the system.
Avoid placing ice cubes or anything cold directly into the vagina, as this can worsen the infection and irritation.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert if there is any query.
Thank you.
