I have a cut in my upper vagina. How do I manage it?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been having a hard and itchy feeling in my inner thigh and slight pain. Also, I even got a cut in my upper vagina.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It sounds like you may be experiencing irritation or infection in the inner thigh and vaginal area.

The hardness and itching could be due to inflammation from friction (such as from tight clothing, sweating, or shaving), or it might be caused by a fungal infection like candida (yeast infection) or tinea cruris (jock itch).

The small cut near the upper vagina could result from scratching, dryness, or minor trauma during activities such as shaving, sexual intercourse, or even tight clothing rubbing against the skin.

When the skin barrier is broken, bacteria can enter and cause localized pain, redness, or swelling.

If the area is itchy and red with a rash, a fungal infection is likely; if it is more painful, swollen, or has discharge, it could be a bacterial infection.

Maintaining good hygiene, keeping the area dry, and avoiding irritants (like scented soaps or tight underwear) can help.

Applying an antifungal or mild antibiotic ointment (depending on the cause) might relieve symptoms, but it is best to see a doctor or gynecologist for proper examination and treatment.

They may perform a swab test to confirm whether it is fungal, bacterial, or related to another skin condition and prescribe the appropriate medication.

I hope this information helps you.

Feel free to ask more queries. I am here to help you.

Take care.

Regards.
