Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have had vaginal discharge for several days, along with a history of pus-filled boils appearing intermittently on the buttocks and in the vaginal area.
Please guide me.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concerns.
I am genuinely concerned about your worries. From your detailed history, it is evident that you have Trichomonas vaginalis. It is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by a parasite.
This infection is quite common and easily treatable, and often goes unnoticed because many people do not experience symptoms. The following are some of the typical symptoms seen in women:
Foul-smelling, frothy yellow-green discharge.
Vaginal itching or burning.
Dysuria (painful urination).
Strawberry cervix (punctate hemorrhages).
To understand the cause of your symptoms, I suggest the following diagnostic test for you:
Nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs) testing. It is the gold standard test.
Wet mount microscopy. It gives immediate results but lower sensitivity.
Point-of-care antigen tests (moderate accuracy).
I suggest you to take the following medicines for your infection. Your symptoms will reduce once you complete the following regimen.
Injection of Metronidazole 1 gram, taken morning and night for two days.
Tablet Azithromycin 500mg, one tablet morning and night for 14 days.
Tablet Metronidazole 400mg, one tablet morning and night for 14 days.
Tablet Doxycycline 100mg, one tablet morning and night for 14 days.
Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take the medicines with their consent. I assure you that after using these medications, your symptoms should improve.
I hope this answers your query. Feel free to reach out anytime.
Thank you.
