What causes burning vaginal sores and lumps on the vulva?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have an infection with symptoms I am unsure about, including sores that resemble ulcers, a lump on my vulva lip, and burning. What could this be?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query.
Let me explain that there are different causes of vaginal discharge:
1. STD (sexually transmitted disease)- related causes include:
1. Gonorrhea.
2. Chlamydia.
3. Trichomonas vaginalis.
2. Non-STD-related causes include:
1. Bacterial vaginosis.
2. Candidiasis (yeast infection).
When treating discharge caused by STDs, it is important to treat your partner as well. However, for non-STD-related discharge, treating the partner is not necessary.
For fungal or yeast infections, the symptoms typically include:
1. White, thick discharge.
2. Mild to moderate amount.
3. Associated with a smell and itching.
4. Not linked to sexual activity.
I recommend the high vaginal swab test.
For treatment, you can take a tablet of Clotrimazole (antifungal) 100 mg vaginal tablet, inserted nightly for eight days. If you prefer not to use tablets, you can apply Canesten cream (1 percent Clotrimazole) to the introitus before bed.
You should start feeling better after beginning this treatment.
Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent.
I hope this information is helpful.
Thank you.
