Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 28 year old male. My ECG shows ventricular ectopic heartbeat of 56 beats per minute. What should I do? Is it dangerous?

Answered by Dr. Rishu Sharma

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

At the age of 28, ventricular ectopic beats are really dangerous. The most common cause of ventricular ectopic beats is myocardial ischemia. You have not mentioned your smoking history and your anxiety levels. High levels of anxiety can cause ectopic beats. A detailed history regarding your sleep, lifestyle, anxiety level, smoking and alcoholic habits and any history of early cardiac death in the family should be mentioned. I advise you to get a 24 hour Holter monitoring to find out the number of ectopic beats in 24 hours and runs of sustained or non-sustained ventricular tachycardia if any, as VT can even cause cardiac arrest. Also, I advise you to get a 2D echo to rule out the ischemia of heart.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
