This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My newborn has been diagnosed with heart-related issues. Could you please help me understand the severity and suggest potential treatment options?

Answered by Dr. Isaac Gana

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am sorry to hear about your child's heart condition. Congenital heart disease is relatively common in children. To assess the severity, could you provide more details about the exact condition the doctor has diagnosed? That way, I can guide you on the best possible management.

Take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I am sharing the 2D echocardiogram report.

Please suggest.

Answered by Dr. Isaac Gana

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed the attached report (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Your child has a ventricular septal defect of small to medium size, which is a hole in the lower part of the heart. I typically do not prescribe any medications to children at an early age. Surgery may be considered later in life if symptoms develop. There is no need to worry.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reach out in case of further queries.

Thank you.
