How to treat vertigo, vomiting, and dizziness in a 25-year-old?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 25-year-old woman. I developed vertigo three months ago and had my atlas adjusted so that the fluid in my ear could drain, which resolved the problem. I have been experiencing vertigo symptoms over the last week, but am also extremely tired sleeping more than nine hours a night and having one to two hours of nap after work, when I usually am fine with six to eight hours of sleep each night. This week, I never felt totally awake. When I look in the upper right corner with my eyes, I notice that my vision does not entirely align properly. I suffer really severe motion sickness when driving, which is not common for me, and have been feeling dizzy. I am not sure if I am experiencing vertigo or anything else. My eyesight is not lining up properly, and I am dizzy and afraid I am going to faint. Do you have any suggestions for what this may be?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is not feasible to drain ear fluid through the atlas. There is no way for it to get there. The eustachian tube empties the middle ear, but this has nothing to do with vertigo. This appears to be vertigo caused by labyrinthitis or otolith movement. I suggest you take the following medication till then, a tablet of Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) 500 mg three times a day and a tablet of Vertin (Betahistine) 8 mg twice a day for three days. If there is no relief, we must perform Epley's maneuver on you to realign your otoliths, which is a two-minute head rotation exercise.

Thank you
