How to boost the body's immune system?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor.

I keep falling sick and recently recovered from pneumonia last month. I am 34 years old and already feeling weak and tired again. It feels like my body has no immunity anymore. Can you suggest ways to boost my immune system so I do not get sick again? I eat decently but do not have much time to cook healthy meals. Do vitamins or supplements actually help with this, or should I focus on something else?

Kindly guide.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Lung infection like pneumonia, you are likely to feel fatigued and low on energy most days. You must eat a nutritious diet, exercise regularly for at least 30 to 35 minutes daily for five days a week, avoid smoking and alcohol, get proper sleep, drink plenty of fluids, and sit under the sun for 15 to 20 minutes daily for sufficient vitamin D. Maintaining a disciplined lifestyle is essential.

You can take vitamin C and vitamin D orally for immunity. Protein powder (two scoops in milk) will also help. I suggest the following investigation:

1. Serum vitamin D3 levels.

I hope this information helps you.

Thank you.
