Can white patches appear due to excessive sweating?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My daughter is a bit chubby compared to other children of her age. She sweats a lot when playing, especially in summer. This has resulted in a white patch appearing on her hands and neck. What should I do to get rid of these patches?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It appears to be hyperhidrosis (abnormally excessive sweating). Some children tend to develop a fungal infection due to dampness. Just apply an antifungal cream, especially during the summer. I suggest Using Sertaconazole cream and apply it three times a day for five days. Kindly consult your doctor and take medicines accordingly. Regular exercise is necessary. Please do a thyroid profile test.

I hope this helps.

Please revert so I can assist you further.

Thank you.
