Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am 21 years old. I got my period on the last week of the previous month, and my cycle is usually 23 to 25 days long. I had unprotected sex on the eighth day of my period and took an I-pill a few hours after that. Six days after having sex, I experienced a blood discharge at midnight. Then there was no blood throughout the night. On the seventh day, I had a little blood during the day, and on the eighth day, it reduced to none by night. I am concerned about what that blood was about.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.
I understand your concern.
According to your description, the spotting or bleeding you experienced must be because of the emergency contraceptive pill, which typically occurs as withdrawal bleeding after taking it. It is normal, and there is nothing to worry about. You may experience a delay in your regular periods due to hormonal changes caused by taking the pill.
I hope this has helped you.
Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.
Thank you.
