Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Can Deriva-cms gel be used for both acne treatment and acne scar treatment? Previously, I have used Benzoyl Peroxide for treating acne.

Please suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the query.

Well, a combination of Adapalene and Clindamycin gel can be used for acne treatment, but it has no effect on acne scars. Post-acne scars are of three types: box scars, icepick (pinpoint scars), and rolling scars. Pinpoint scars are difficult to treat, while box scars are easier.

No creams or tablets can help you with scars. The best technique is CO2 fractional laser and subcision. It takes five to six sessions, but the results are better than any other procedure. Dermaroller and subcision is another method, but it is less effective than the one mentioned above. Filler has a hiding effect; it fills the pits and gives the impression of fullness. It is not permanent. Chemical peels can be effective if the scars are not very prominent. These are techniques you can consider. All procedures take four to six sessions and five to six months for better results.

Hope I have clarified your queries.

Thank you.
