How to talk to a brother who stopped after an argument?

Hello doctor,

My brother refuses to talk to any of the family members after a difference of opinion about a car that he wants. He has gone so far as to say that the family refuses to let him grow as a person, whereas that is not the case. I, as his sister, have tried to get him to share his feelings, but he just refuses to talk. How can I get him to at least talk about how he feels because I think he may be depressed? All this was triggered by an argument in the family. However, he has been showing symptoms such as lethargy and sudden mood swings for the last few months.

How long is Risperidone effective?

Hello doctor,

I discontinued Risperidone two months ago. I have not had any psychotic symptoms. I believe my schizoaffective disorder is in remission. However, can Risperidone continue to have an effect two months after taking it? If so what is the maximum amount of time Risperidone continue to have an effect? I took it for four years and took 5 mg twice daily. I am a 44-year old male. I also take Buproprion 75 mg once daily.

I am unable to recall some of the things I did in the last two months. Please help.

Hello doctor,

I have not been able to remember some of the stuff I have done these past two months. It has actually been a problem for around five years, but it was not this bad. I have had entire days missing from my memory, and people around me have said that I have done or said bad things to them, some even showing proof. Now, sometimes I have an attack. It comes randomly, but also when I try to tell people about this too. During the attack, it is hard to breathe, my hands shake, and my heart races, but I feel the need to struggle against it because every time I give in, I forget again. These attacks have only been there these past two months. Please help.

How can I deal with aggressive behaviors of my sister?

Hello doctor,

I have a sister and we are living together since my mother's death. We are living in a country where there are more traditional aspects. The problem is that my sister has some aggressive behaviors. An unsuccessful love affair has turned her to have a more aggressive personality. She has been always fighting with my mother sometimes throwing and breaking things. My mother even had serious injuries. She never accepted to take any advice and told us that she was very healthy and normal. She is totally a different person outside the house usually very shy and not a friendly person. My mother always kept secrets and never told anybody about whatever she did to her. I was the only person who knew about the abuse. I lost my father at a young age. Now that my mother has gone, she is behaving toward me in the same way and I do not know what to do. I know she will never accept to take any professional advice. I am afraid that she will hurt me if I tell her to do that. She has also bullying-like behaviors and is always trying to make me angry whenever she wants by distorting words and humiliating me. I do not know how to deal with this. I am feeling anxious, nervous, and frightened. I really need advice myself how to deal with this kind of person. I will be thankful if you could help me.

I consume a lot of alcohol and I want to overcome this. What should be done?

Hello doctor,

I am a 21-year-old married female. I have been suffering from anger and anxiety issues since last one year. I also did online counseling which benefitted me a lot. Now my anger and anxiety are under control. But during the time when my problem was at its peak, I developed a liking for alcohol which I am not able to overcome. I consume about 180 mL of alcohol at once and often two to three times a month. I am scared that it will cause irreparable damage to my mental and physical health. My therapist advised me to divert myself in some other activity when the craving develops. I do this for some days but after that, I fall prey to my temptations. I do not know what to do. Please advise me.
