Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 21 years old. My period was late. I vomited once, and my boobs began to get hard and sore, and my nipple had been sore for over a week. I have been sleepy, getting headaches, I have not been frequently using the toilet. Three days ago, I observed slight cramps and very light bleeding, pinkish patches, and spotting for half a day; it stopped, and yesterday, cramps began again; the bleeding was red but with a very light flow. Since then, the bleeding has stopped again, but I am still experiencing cramps with no bleeding today. My nipple is still sore. Back pains and cramping feels different from my usual period cramping and bleeding.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The delayed period and soreness of the boobs, nipple, and other symptoms could be a result of the hormonal fluctuation before your period or as a result of early pregnancy (if you had unprotected sex at or around your ovulation period). For this case, we will need to do an ultrasound scan to check your uterus. Also, taking some medications like I-pill close to when you are supposed to have your period could cause a delay in your period followed by spotting as you are currently experiencing. For this case, the period will still come normally in the next week.

I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had unprotected sex three weeks ago. I have not been taking any sort of medication that can affect pregnancy or my body. Could it be a miscarriage? There were no signs of fluid or tissue, just a light flow of red bleeding yesterday, only small patches and spotting last night; today, I just have cramping. The cramping is in a different spot from where my period cramping is. Experienced some back pain in my lower back also. Two pregnancy tests were negative, though that was two days ago. Was it maybe too early in pregnancy?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It could be a miscarriage. Do the ultrasound scan and repeat the pregnancy test with either a blood sample or your first urine sample in the morning. These two tests would help me draw a definitive conclusion. For the cramps, you can take a tablet of Acetaminophen 1 gram for three days.

I hope this helps. Thank you.
