Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My sister wants to terminate her pregnancy. Her LMP was two months back. Her doctor has given her an Insta kit and asked her to take one tablet tomorrow morning, two tablets at 5 AM the day after, and another two tablets at 6 AM on the same day. Will taking tablets back to back cause any issues? Also, is D and C required after taking the tablets?
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Your sister has to take the medicines as advised. It is called medical abortion. There is a risk of incomplete abortion with medicines. In that case, surgical abortion called D and C (dilation and curettage) may be required.
I hope this helps.
I wish you good health.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the response.
Will she have bleeding after taking the tablets? Also, her doctor has asked her to come for D and C the next day after taking the tablets.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
There is no need to worry about bleeding after the first dose. Does she have any history of menstrual irregularity? Did she take any contraceptive pills in the past? Kindly answer the questions so that I can guide you better.
Thank you.

Hello doctor,
There is no history of contraceptive use. She is recently married, and this is her first pregnancy. Also, she has a regular menstrual cycle of 28 to 32 days. Only once, her cycle was delayed by 39 days.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
She can take the first dose tomorrow and the other doses as per schedule. There is no need to worry about bleeding.
I hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Thank you.
