What is the treatment for moderate to severe acne?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 29-year-old female. I am not pregnant or breastfeeding. I take Levothyroxine for hypothyroidism. I have moderate to severe acne with combination skin. I have large pores by my nose and painful oily or cystic acne on my cheeks, and I am starting to get fine lines on my forehead. It feels like I have tried everything. Is there anything else I could be doing to treat my acne and help my skin look better?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

  1. Relax and make yourself stress-free, as stress is a big contributing factor to acne.

  2. Adopt a good skincare routine.

  3. Wash your face with Dermadew acne face wash (Salicylic acid) twice daily for two weeks.

  4. Apply Acne OC cream (Niacinamide) during the daytime for two weeks.

  5. Apply Clindamycin clear gel twice daily for two weeks.

Attach a clinical picture to assess your acne grade so I can guide you further.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
