Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a raised lymph node in my neck, but I have not had any infections recently. It was just a sore throat that went away on its own, and there was some mucus buildup in my throat. The lymph node is 10x2 mm on the ultrasound, and the doctor said it is a normal, reactive lymph node. My blood work came back normal. The lymph node has been there for about 15 days and has not shrunk or grown in size. I also had a CRP (C-reactive protein) test, which was 3.6 milligrams/deciliters. I do not have a fever, but I tend to be anxious, so I am looking for a detailed answer. Should I be concerned about anything serious? The ultrasound report says, "No lesions in the neck's soft tissues.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Based on your symptoms, I believe you have developed acute pharyngitis, which is a painful inflammation of the throat that can cause swelling in nearby lymph nodes. So, it is likely not something serious, as the lymph node swelling is due to the infection in your throat. Please do a throat swab test and share the results with me. In the meantime, I recommend you take the following medications:
Two tablets of Co-Amoxiclav 625 milligrams, twice a day for two weeks.
Two tablets of Metronidazole 400 milligrams, three times a day for two weeks.
Two tablets of Vitamin C 1000 International Units, three times a day for one week.
Two tablets of Acetaminophen 500 milligrams, three times a day for one week.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
