Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My niece is not focusing on her studies, she does not finish her homework daily and is often distracted. She seems to be different from other children of her age. Is she suffering from ADHD? We are really worried about her behavior. How to find that she is completely normal or she is having some sort of issue? Can you tell us ways to help her, so that she can grow up better?
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
There may be so many reasons behind a child not able to focus on some task or getting distracted. Some are very normal, and does not have many concerns but some reasons need to be evaluated properly. Sometimes it is simply a nature or it can be ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) or even autism. Majority of the time this kind of behavior of a child is quite normal and improves with training and time. The very first thing is to have a detailed history of her birth and then how she achieved her milestones. Share details regarding her behavior with other kids or with family members. Is she playing normally with peers? Does she gets upset with any changes in her routine? Does she interested in watching television or playing video games? Is she attached to any article or she likes something and wants to be with it always? Does she had any major illness since birth or any traumatic incidence in the family ? Share the complete details and I will advice you accordingly. Else you can connect with me on chat to discuss the issue in detail.
Take care and do not worry.
We can deal with the situation together and I am sure things can be done in positive direction.
