How do I manage my overthinking and ADHD symptoms?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 21 years old, and my height is 5 feet 3 inches. I have been having issues with concentration and overthinking. I usually forget things in a manner. I always have this overlapping thought and have not been able to work off any of the plans I make because I always forget to or just have another one, which gets another one and loops.

Unlike I used to now, I feel like I have not been able to concentrate on anything at all, only sometimes hardly. I just saw that these might be symptoms of ADHD, or I just wanted to make sure what is all this.

Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I understand your concern.

ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and ADD are conditions that can affect concentration, focus, and organization.

Common symptoms include:

1. Difficulty sustaining attention in tasks or play activities.

2. Frequent careless mistakes in work or other activities.

3. Difficulty organizing tasks and activities.

4. Difficulty organizing tasks and activities.

More common in ADHD include-

  1. Fidgeting with or tapping hands or feet.
  2. Difficulty remaining seated in situations where expected.
  3. Interrupting or intruding on others.

You mentioned having difficulty with concentration, overthinking, and forgetfulness, as well as a history of migraines. These can be associated with ADHD or ADD, but can also result from other conditions such as anxiety, depression, or high stress. Keeping a journal can help track patterns and triggers.

Must get physically examined by a psychiatrist. Use checklists to keep track of tasks and priorities. Schedule activities and set reminders. Meditation can help improve focus and reduce overthinking.

Moreover, deep breathing and yoga will help. Physical activity can improve concentration and reduce stress. Ensure you are eating a nutritious diet and taking proper rest.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Thank you.
