Hello doctor,
I am a 29-year-old male who has developed a dry cough with no fever. I have had it for a few months. It mostly happens in the evenings and almost certainly happens after I have eaten. I also find myself clearing my throat a lot. I am currently being investigated for left side abdominal pains or discomfort, which I have had for over a year. Doctors think I have IBS as it runs in my family, and I have symptoms. I need the bathroom right after eating; there is usually a lot of food on my stool. I suffer from health anxiety and have convinced myself I have bowel cancer that has now spread to my lungs. I am a non-smoker or drinker of alcohol. So far, all the tests I have done are blood, stool, urine, throat endoscopy, rectal exam, physical examination of my abdomen, and an ultrasound was performed. I am currently waiting for a colonoscopy. I have been told I have a fatty liver and gallstones. Any help on why I have this cough?
Hi,
Welcome to the icliniq,com.
You are having a dry cough which is pointing toward an allergic cough. You can try to take turmeric powder with milk daily for dry cough. Decongestants like Montelukast can be prescribed by your doctor. I suggest you consult an allergic specialist doctor for your physical examination and, accordingly, further management. A dry cough does not mean cancer. So, do not worry. Anxiety is also one cause of irritable bowel syndrome apart from a genetic cause.
I hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards.
