Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 3-year-old son is suffering from cold and has regular cough. His temperature is normal and he did not have fever. But at times, he is throwing up whatever he eat or drink while coughing. Please suggest any medication and test if required.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

1. Since when is this happening? Is there any specific time of cough, either morning or evening? Is the child feeding well?

2. It may be an infection or may be allergic cough.

3. I advise you go for chest X-ray and complete blood count if it is more than 14 days.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

It was there for the last four to five days. We gave him prescribed medicines and he got better. He went over and drank some juice, which was quite cool. After that, he started coughing and vomiting. I have attached his chest X-ray. Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

1. Chest X-ray is not that bad (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

2. What all medicines are being given? Is he still on some treatment?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have attached the prescription copy. Please advise.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

1. I saw the prescription (attachment removed to protect patient identity) and I advise you to continue this medication.

2. It seems just an upper respiratory tract infection. It should resolve with this medication in three to four days.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Please find the attached reports of CBP and CRP. Let me know if any extra medication required.

Answered by Dr. Payas Joshi

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

1. Just continue with the same medication. It appears viral only.

2. It should resolve in three to four days.

Take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My son is still throwing up as soon as he intakes milk. He coughs and immediately throws up. When he has solid food, he is fine. Shall we stop giving milk for some time? Does he need any extra medication? As of last two days he is little better, but did not recover completely.

Answered by Dr. Payas Joshi

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

1. If only vomiting is there and otherwise the child is improved, then syrup Vomikind (Ondansetron) half an hour before feeds can be given three times a day. Consult his doctor, discuss with him or her and take the medicine with consent.

2. What about fever? Is it there? If improving then can we wait for one or two days.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

There is no fever. He is improving, but he vomits after having milk. Otherwise, he has little regular cold and cough.

Answered by Dr. Payas Joshi

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

That is really great. I wish he improves fast. You can decrease the amount of feed and can give frequent feeds. If such is the condition, then he should improve in further two days.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
