Patient's Query
Hello, Doctor,
I am having severe pain in my asshole after taking a shit this morning, and there is bleeding. The first stool was hard to pass; I felt like it was damaged, like a cut. I do not know for sure, but that is what I felt, and then bleeding started like a drop. Please help me, the pain it is hurts a lot.
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
What you are describing sounds most consistent with an anal fissure, which is a small tear in the skin of the anus that often happens after passing a hard stool. It can cause sudden sharp pain during or after bowel movements and a small amount of bright red bleeding like drops, which can feel very alarming but is usually not dangerous.
The pain can be quite intense because the area is very sensitive and may spasm after the injury. For now,
-
Try to avoid straining.
-
Keep your stools soft by drinking plenty of water and increasing fiber.
-
If possible, use a stool softener.
-
Warm sitz baths for 10 to 15 minutes a few times a day can significantly reduce pain and help with healing.
You may also use a gentle protective ointment like petroleum jelly before bowel movements to reduce friction. This usually improves within a few days, but if bleeding increases, pain becomes unbearable, or it does not start improving within a week, you should get examined to confirm the cause and rule out other conditions.
I hope this information helps you.

Thank you.
