What are the possible causes for itching around the anus?
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have had itching around the anus for the past few weeks. I have used multiple creams but nothing worked.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I have gone through the details and images (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). You are going through eczematous dermatitis. It is often formed due to stagnation of moisture and secondary fungal infection. They may appear on and off due because of being an unexposed area, where the stagnation of moisture and sweat is higher.I suggest you to follow a few instructions mentioned below:
1. Use Luliconazole cream once in the morning and once in the afternoon on the affected area for eight to 12 weeks.
2. Consume tablet Levocet M (Levocetirizine and Montelukast) daily once after dinner for two weeks to reduce itching.
3. Use Fucidin H cream (Fusidic acid and Hydrocortisone), a skinny layer on the affected area, for one week to reduce the initial redness and itching.
4. Consume one capsule of Itraconazole 200 mg after dinner for two weeks to prevent secondary infections in the affected area.
5. Sit in lukewarm salt water or apply lukewarm salt water using a clean cotton on the affected area for 10 minutes. This may be done once a day.
6. Make sure to consume more fruits, vegetables, fiber, and at least three liters of water daily.
7. Avoid scratching the area and use soft fabric as undergarments. Keep the affected area clean and dry as much as possible to avoid stagnation of sweat and moisture on the affected area.
I hope this information will help you.
Thanks.
