Hi doctor,

I lost my smell and taste twelve weeks back after getting Covid-19. I got my taste back after two weeks. But still, I am not to able smell anything. I have tried steam inhalation, steroid nasal spray, smell training, and saline nasal spray. But there is no improvement. What to do?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Loss of smell or anosmia is one of the peculiar atypical features of COVID-19 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2). In all circumstances, loss of taste and smell always occurs in association irrespective of the cause. It is closely attributed to the processing centers of the brain. It usually takes around one to six months to regain the perception of smell in COVID-19 patients. There is nothing to be worried and make sure that you do not have any underlying allergic issues along with it. For now, take your diet with loads of fruits and vegetables.
