Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 21 years old. I keep getting BV (bacterial vaginosis). I need to see a gynecologist this week to know what I have but this time the outside of the vagina is inflamed, itchy and there is a presence of discharge. Right now it is only a little bit of discomfort with a yellowish discharge. Two months ago I was diagnosed with HPV (human papillomavirus) as well.
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern. I would like to know if you have received any treatment for bacterial vaginosis.
Following are a few tips to avoid recurrence:
Avoid using vaginal wash etc. available in the market.
Avoid washing private parts repeatedly after you pass urine, as it keeps the area damp and allows the fungus to grow.
Change undergarments twice a day.
Use cotton undergarments. Avoid lycra and satin material for undergarments.
You can use Fluconazole (Flucos) dusting powder in the groin to keep the area dry, Clotrimazole (Canesten) vaginal pessary once a night for six nights. Clotrimazole (Clotrim) cream to apply locally to relieve itching. Tablet Fluconazole (Diflucan) 150 mg twice a week for four weeks. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take the medicines with their consent.
If you are sexually active, your partner needs to be treated with oral tablet Fluconazole (Diflucan) 150 mg twice a week for four weeks.
Do visit a gynecologist for per speculum examination and to know the exact nature of the discharge.
Regards.
