Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

A small portion of my glans penis is sore for the last five days. If I press the area, it hurts. There is no burning micturition and no discharge. Kindly suggest some medicine.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

I went through the image (the attachment removed to protect the patient's identity).

If there was unprotected sex, one needs to think of sexually transmitted infection. So, I suggest you do the following tests.

1. TPHA (Treponema pallidum hemagglutination) test.

2. HPV PCR test (human papillomavirus polymerase chain reaction).

3. Herpes simplex virus one and two antibodies tests.

4. Chlamydia trachomatis IgG antibody test.

5. Human immunodeficiency virus screening test.

6. Hepatitis B surface antigen test.

7. Urine complete test.

If not, it can be a simple bacterial infection. I suggest you use an antibacterial ointment for local application and take a tablet of Doxycycline (tetracycline antibiotic) 100 mg twice a day for 5 days. In case of a fungal infection, an antifungal ointment is suggested. Make sure you wash your genitalia twice daily and use normal water.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for your reply.

There was no unprotected sex. I had a hand job in a massage parlor. Do I need investigations?

Please help.

Answered by Dr. Raveendran S R

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If it is only a handjob, it can lead to bacterial infection or injury. I suggest you take an antibiotic medicine and apply an antibacterial ointment as suggested.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.
