Hello doctor,
I am a 42-year-old male and have itching and red rashes on my penis. I applied Candiderma ointment, and the symptoms resolved. After, I had sex with my partner. At the time of sex, I got a very rough feel inside and had a burning sensation after sex. The next day, I noticed the penis tip was red and had severe pain. I am a diabetic, which is under control. What medications can I take?

It seems you have balanitis. Candiderma contains Beclometasone (0.025%), Gentamicin (0.5%), and Clotrimazole (1%). As one of the ingredients is a steroid, avoid it in fungal infection. Balanitis is inflammation of the glans penis. Balanitis involving the foreskin and prepuce is termed balanoposthitis. Predisposing factors include poor hygiene, overwashing, use of over-the-counter medications, and non-retraction of the foreskin. It may be associated with diabetes or candidal fungal infections. Investigations for the condition are blood sugar checks and KOH (potassium hydroxide preparation) mount for candidiasis. I suggest the following treatment: Consult a specialist doctor, talk to them, and take the medication.
Gently retract the foreskin daily and soak it in warm water to clean the penis and foreskin.
You can use a combination of Fusidic acid and Clotrimazole twice daily for one month.
If balanitis does not respond to topical therapy, take Ketoconazole 200 mg twice daily for two weeks.

You can take Clocip cream (1% Clotrimazole) half fingertip unit equally mixed with Fucidin cream (Fusidic acid). You can take tablets Ketozole (Ketoconazole) or Nizral (Ketoconazole) after a doctor's consult. Consult a specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medication.

As per your advice, my problem is almost 98 % cured. But I did not take Ketoconazole tablets. Is it required if ointment has cured symptoms? I am still applying antifungals.
