Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My bipolar girlfriend just broke up with me. She told me that her medicines were stolen at the beginning of a trip. 75 pills stolen. She started acting differently after about three days. After five days, she broke up with me saying she did not want to drag me down with her. Now she has quit her job and quit school to move away and follow a dream. My questions are that are there bipolar medications that have street value? Can an abrupt stop to medication cause someone to relapse that fast? How long does it take to come out of this episode?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Bipolar illness is a severe mental illness. It needs constant treatment. Stopping or switching the medicines on your own can lead to relapse. Medicines are provided by a registered medical practitioner and cannot be sold OTC (over-the-counter). She has to be started on medicines. She cannot come out of it on her own. Without medicines, her condition will worsen. Thank you.
