Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My lower abdomen is constantly bloated and swollen. My symptoms include chronic bloating, constipation, no period, swollen pelvis area, fatigue, and painful intercourse. My blood work and ultrasound are normal. The symptoms have lasted over six months. I am a 25-year-old female, of height 4’10” and weight 90 lbs. I am taking Mirena IUD and Gabapentin 600 mg for anxiety. Kindly help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You mentioned recently that you did a blood investigation and an ultrasound of the abdomen, and it was normal, so do not worry too much. About your constipation and bloating, you can change your diet habits, increase vegetables and fiber in your diet, and avoid spicy, oily, and fast food. Drink adequate water daily, about 2.5 to 3 liters.

Most probably, your present symptoms are related to dyspepsia, gastritis, or constipation. After changes in your diet, you can take an anti-ulcerant (for example, Omeprazole or Famotidine)

Regularly do exercise. You also have period disturbances, and you have an IUD (intrauterine device). With an IUD, sometimes periods can be irregular, but if it delayed further, consult with a gynecologist. For painful intercourse, you can use a lubricant.

Also, you are taking Gabapentin. It is usually used for neuropathic pain. You can consult with a physician about its continuation.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

I hope this was helpful.
